half way there

I am still shocked that I am halfway through my college undergrad. They year has gone by so fast and many things have contributed to this. I believe that Bonner's is one of them. It has kept me focused and on track and has improved many of my skills that have made me a better person.
I had such a great time in all the various activities with Bonner's. One of my favorite memories was the trip to New Orleans. It was such a moving experience that changed or improved my views of various issues. I also had a wonderful time on the service trip to Washington D.C. I think it really helped us all bond as a group and improved upon our friendships.
I am looking forward to the years to come. We have made many great strides in our past founding year and a lot of this is because of Nicole. So Nicole, thank you for all your great work and good luck in your future.

blog blog blog

Hey Fellow Siena Bonners,

So here I am writing this a few days before graduating from Siena, and most of you are really just starting out. Let me just say I hope you all enjoy your experience here :-)

I would have to say that the best memory I have of Bonner would have to be our road trip to w.v. The best part, and the part I think we will all remember, is the actual trip down there and back, making sweet music videos, talking, painting the vans. That, along with the awesome speakers and panels we got to attend, made for a pretty interesting weekend.

So, I don't have any plans yet for after our trip to d.c. I am going home and trying to find a job, even if its just a summer job. Then I am going to apply for americorps, I want to do direct service for a year before perhaps going to grad school.

I feel like after this year I am definitely ready to be done with school for a while. I have changed a lot this past year, especially after being abroad and from all that has happened to me this year. I have a lot of thinking to do concerning what I am going to be doing with my life, but the one thing that this year has taught me is that I am ready to begin the next part of my life.

I wish you all the best

Freshman year is over?... Alreadyy???

I have grown so much as a person this year.  I have learned a lot about time management skills and how to study.  Personally, I think studying is the biggest thing.  This was the hardest thing for me to over come.  Studying for a college exam is nothing like studying for a high school exam... it is ten times worse.  Not only have I learned a lot about school, but I have also learned a lot about myself.  I am beginning to see what is in store for me in the future.  I came into my freshman year with honestly no clue what I wanted to be.  Sure, I told everyone that I wanted to be a lawyer.  I only said that because that has been my goal since I was little.  I now know, because of Bonner, that I want to do something to help people.  Preferably little kids.  I want to work with kids.  Who knows, maybe I can even become a child advocacy lawyer?... this is a work in progress.

My fondest Bonner memory has to be watching the faces of the students everyday when I walk into the Boys and Girls Club and they yell "Miss April!!!"  Although this is a memory, it is also something that I will be looking forward to in the next three years.  That idea makes me so happy.  I am excited to see how far I can get.

Next year I am looking forward to meeting the new Bonner students.  I can't wait to take a couple of them under my wing at the Boys and Girls Club.  I am also excited to get an apartment.  I will not be living on campus next year.

Yayyyy!!!  It's summer time!... Let's all go make a big difference in D.C. & enjoy Nicole while she is still here.  You will be missed!!!
